This solid stainless steel bottle stopper will never pit from the acids in red wine or vinegars. It sits low in the bottle so your wood or glass design is the focal point. It's designed to complement your work rather than compete with it. See the picture of the cedar apple below.

They are made of solid non-magnetic, acid corrosion resistant 304 stainless steel and are tapered so the 3 o-rings will seal various size bottles. They seal tight. The stainless is brushed as is most quality kitchen utensils and appliances. If you prefer, they can easily be buffed to a high shine with tripoli or buffing rouge.

The stoppers are machined with a 1/2" high, 3/8" x 16 tpi threaded, #301, or smooth stud, #302. The difference between the threaded and the smooth is strictly personal preference and turning procedure. Go to the "Making a Stopper" page to see my turning process for both of these stopper designs.

This flat-top stopper, #303, is available for glass blowers, fused and cast glass artists. They use either HXTAL, E6000 epoxy (available at Michaels and A C Moore) or "Welder" (available at Lowes and Home Depot).

This flat-top style has a 10/32 tpi threaded hole and is used by stone and tile artists and some bead workers. Also available, stoppers with a 1/4" non-threaded hole for marble workers. If you need a custom size hole, threaded or unthreaded, let me know. If it is possible, we will make it but a 50 pcs. initial order would be necessary.

This design is for fused glass artists. It has a 1 1/4" diameter by 3/16" thick circle of the same quality stainless steel as the base. It is one piece, the top is not removable. Glass artists can do a multitude of shapes with their glass to cover the round mandrel.

These stoppers are designed to be strictly utilitarian, the steel and o-rings are FDA grade appr'd for food contact. They were not designed just for display, rather to be used for any length of time in a bottle of any wine or vinegar. They seal tight in most bottles.

#2 Morse taper, 3/8" x 16 tpi threaded end that is also a TAP (no need to tap separately) and the back end is threaded if you wish to use a drawbar. The top diameter is the same as the stoppers. To see the mandrel being used, go to Laguna Tools (they do not sell the mandrel) click on the words (not the pic) "Turning a bottle stopper" listed on the right side of the screen: http://www.lagunatools.com/videos.aspx He is using the original mandrel, not this one with the threaded end for the drawbar.

Mandrels are $25 ea.

Stub, 23/64", HSS drill bit, 1 3/4" flute length, 3 1/6" overall length. This drill bit is the solution to long bits that hit the wood grain and wander even one mm causing an off-center hole.
